Effie Turner, 100, of Oklahoma, formerly of Centralia, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Baptist Village Nursing Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born the daughter of Joseph Guy and Effie (Donaldson) Parsons on January 5, 1917 in Dalhart, Texas. She married Harold L. Turner on April 25, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, IL and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1992.

Effie is lovingly survived by her daughters Ann Hilliard, husband Bill of Tennessee, Marty Phelps, husband Curtis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Cristal Hill, husband Curtis of Centralia; cherished grandchildren Teresa Lynn Phelps, Michael Neal Phelps, Damian Scott Hill; great-grandchildren Alexi Phelps and Brody Phelps; brother Ray E. Parsons of California, and sister Vera Parmenter of Pekin, IL.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, brothers Harris Parsons, JW Parsons, Donald G. Parsons, and Joseph E. Parsons.

Effie was a member of the First Christian Church in Centralia. She was also a member of the CWF Group 7 and the Booster Sunday School Class.


Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ with Rev. Elaine Bush officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. The family asks that memorials in Effie’s memory may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
